So, it’s your junior year...lots of excitement can be formed around this time of the year, with breaks and maybe finals approaching all too quickly. But, have you stopped for a second and begun thinking about what you’ll be doing during this time next year? Now, next year may seem like a lifetime away, but time really moves when you don’t plan on it. But don’t stress! Here are a few tips and pointers from your graduating seniors:

Make every day count:

Don’t dwell on the past! Your high school years may seem like everything is permanent; it really isn’t. Life will go on. Don’t be afraid to put yourselves out there! Be involved and stay involved, colleges don’t just look at grades or GPAs, so try everything once.

Do Your Research

Find out what college is right for you! This may seem like a no-brainer, but lots of individuals can become overwhelmed when it comes to deciding their future. Go on those college tours! Call up the admissions offices and discover if their curriculum is what will best benefit your future. Most importantly, find out their deadlines!

Ask for Help

Don’t be afraid to ask for help. You have a plethora of resources, as far as gaining knowledge on college is concerned. Stop by your counselors’, stop by a teacher you trust, meet up with the Boys and Girls Club coordinator, and ask for their help! Your senior year can become stressful, if you let it. Use your resources to your advantage.

Do NOT Procrastinate (Avoid “Senioritis”)

Procrastination will make or break your senior year, so don’t let yourselves fall into the habit! If you already have that procrastination mindset, the first step to breaking it is real talk. Here’s your first wakeup call: your senior year is going to be filled with amazing opportunities, don’t let your procrastinating habits get in the way. Get the work done! Getting it done allows you to have time for fun without the stress of deadlines.

Have Fun!

Grasp onto every opportunity presented to you! You don’t want to miss out on all the jazz that is your senior year! Go to that football game, participate in those seemingly silly Spirit Weeks, go to the dance, even if you have no one to go with, be in the moment, live for the present, “carpe diem”. Just enjoy your youth!
